Aromal belongs to Changamkery village in Edathua region of Alleppey district. He hails from an economically backward family with his father and mother working as daily wage labourers. During the floods that struck Kerala in 2018, they lost their house completely. The Panchayath has since given them financial support to build a small house. The work is still in progress and the family is living in a make-shift tent. Since the region easily gets waterlogged, they are often affected by water-borne diseases, especially during the monsoons. With school going online, Aromal misses the provision of free midday meals.
