Arun was born into a low-income family in Pattathanam, a flood-prone region in the Alleppey district of Kerala. He shares a loving relationship with his siblings-an elder and a younger brother. Both of his parents work as daily wage labourers. They find it very difficult to make their ends meet as they don’t find work everyday. Arun’s small house is located in a flood prone area. The house suffered damages during the floods in 2018. Living in a water-logged area, the people in Arun’s neighbourhood live in constant dread of malaria, dengue and other water borne diseases. Availability of clean drinking water continues to be a dream for the people living in the area. Arun and his brothers fetch 120 litres of water which costs a rupee per litre and lasts only for a week.

Arun is a good student. He is now studying in Class 12 and has opted for the Commerce stream. He scored A+ in 3 and A grade in 2 subjects in his Class 10 examinations. Even though his family has no means to support him financially, Arun dreams of becoming a police officer.
