Peter belongs to a low-income family in Edathua, in the Alleppey district of Kerala. His father works as a daily wage labourer. His mother is taking medication for a neurological disorder. Peter and his younger sister have come in terms with living on very limited means. They live in  a flood-prone colony with most of their neighbours surviving on daily wages for their living. Their home got damaged during the floods in 2018. They received partial help to renovate their house. With his uncle also living with them, Peter’s father who is the sole breadwinner of the family, finds it very difficult to make ends meet.

Peter is a good student. He scored 90 percent in his Class 10 examination. He is studying in Class 12 now. His parents have no means of providing for his higher studies, but Peter wants to be an Accountant and support his family financially.
